Jeff didn't remember dozing off, but he woke up when the mattress moved. Opening his eyes, he watched the play of muscles under Neal's skin as he walked into the bathroom. From the feel of the wetness still cooling on his stomach, Jeff knew he hadn't slept long, maybe just a few minutes. He bit back a grin. He'd had kind of a long day, after all.

Water ran in the bathroom, and Neal came back in with a washcloth in his hand. He smiled when he saw Jeff was awake and sat on the side of the mattress next to him.

"Hey," he said, his voice low and still rough from his moans. He reached out to wipe off Jeff's stomach and chest. "Have a nice nap?"

Jeff smiled, lazily sliding one hand across the mattress to rest on Neal's thigh. "Let's just say I'm very relaxed."

Neal chuckled and turned, sailing the washcloth toward the bathroom, where the cloth plopped wetly onto the tile floor. "Nice," Jeff said. "Still got the arm even if the leg gave out."

Neal shrugged and stretched out on the mattress next to Jeff. "I still throw the ball around sometimes," he said. "You got a glove?"

Jeff shivered and scooted closer to Neil's warmth. "Not in this weather," he protested. "Talk to me come spring and we'll see."

Neil reached up to run a hand through Jeff's hair, his face growing serious. "Have to say, never thought someone like you would show up on my doorstep."

"Someone like me?"

"Funny. Smart. A little silly. Drop-dead gorgeous. And hey! Gay!"

Jeff had to laugh. "Takes one to know one," he said.

He shifted onto his side, facing Neal, bringing his hand up to rest on Neal's hip. "Trust me, you were about the last thing I expected to find out here in the boondocks." Neal snorted out a laugh, and Jeff smiled. "Not that I have any problem with it. But…" He sobered, studying Neal's eyes, already feeling so familiar even though they'd just met. "I don't know what this is. I don't know if I can figure it out right now. I don't know what I'll be doing a year from now." He blew out a breath. "But I think I'd like to spend more time with you. If you want."

Neal didn't move for a few long moments, but then he nodded slowly and leaned over to seal the deal with a kiss. "I don't get a lot of free time," he murmured. "This place keeps me busy. But I think I'd like spending what time I do have getting to know you better."

Jeff ran his hand up Neal's arm, feeling soft skin over hard muscle. "I'm not good at this." Neal raised a skeptical eyebrow, and Jeff chuckled. "Not that. All the other stuff. Hell, jumping you was either the smartest or dumbest thing I've ever done. I'm not really sure yet. But if you want to—"

Neal covered Jeff's mouth with one hand, ending his monologue. "I get it," he said.
